Mission

The mission of the New Hope Family Shelter (NHFS) is to provide temporary shelter for homeless families in Bloomington and Monroe County and, in collaboration with other agencies, to help those families regain housing by addressing the problems that led to homelessness.

New Hope opened in July and is serving homeless families from Monroe County. We need your financial support to provide shelter and case management to families in need.

Current Needs

The following items are needed - if you have any of the following, please contact New Hope at 334-9840 to arrange for the item(s) to be picked-up.

For the residents:

  • School supplies (pens, notebooks, binder, folder)
  • Money for new sneakers, socks, jeans, jacket for a male teen. A bike that would fit a teen boy (to ride to school)
  • A gift certificate for a haircut gift card to purchase OTC allergy medicine

For the house:

  • Laundry soap
  • Low-sugar cereal
  • Paper products (tissues, toilet paper, paper towels)
  • Dish soap
  • Razors
  • Kroger gift cards
